ESA Members Zoom Meeting

The Epiphyllum Society of America presents, ESA member and hybridiser Richard Klug. Delaware born, Richard came to Los Angeles and began in electronic sales and went on to real estates sales and development where he still works as a Realtor and Rental Housing Provider.

His interest in horticulture began in Delaware at Longwood Gardens and has stayed with him. He became exposed to epiphyllums through Dr Howard Quand who gave him first epies.

Richard has been hybridizing epies and hylocereus for over 15 years. Of the 43 crosses he has registered, about 20 successful crosses which met his standards in being unique, strong, and long lasting. He also has an extensive collection of rhipsalis and collects cacti, bulbs, and large ferns.

The biggest honor and validation a hybridiser can receive is one's hybrid being named BEST IN SHOW. In 2018, at the ESA Flower Show / Sale, his hybrid " Iguazu Falls, " received that honor beating out hundreds of entries .

Moreover, Richard will share his atypical Southern California beautifully landscaped garden collection, with pool, overlooking the San Fernando Valley.
