October General Meeting
Everyone's favorite epiphyllum photographer, Don Crain of San Diego, is the focus at the ESA's October 3rd meeting, as we review the 2017 ESA Flower Show through his eyes.
As one of the show's main judges, ESA President Robert Kuettle, will give us an insider's point of view why certain flowers won the first place blue ribbon over the second and third place. Moreover, he will share what the judges look for in a flower to grab their attention from a sea of colorful epies. Why do these flowers stand out above the rest when they pick the top 3 places per category? Is it form, individuality, color, rarity, freshness, or size? What does take to win "Best of Show?"
General ESA Meetings are informal and informative, with an emphasis on epi culture. Admission and parking are free. Refreshments are served. Members and guests attending their first meeting receive a free, potted epi plant. Cuttings and potting supplies are available for bargain prices at the sale table. Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month (except January and December), at 7:30 pm, in the Bamboo Room of the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanical Garden, 301 North Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia, CA. From the Foothill Freeway (1-210), take the Baldwin Avenue off ramp south, and follow the signs to the Arboretum.
