General Membership Meeting

Special presentation on hybridizer George French, prepared by Linda SInkovic.

George French would have been 100 years old this year.  I realized some of the people in our club grew his hybrids but had never met George, and this presentation was a way to try to introduce him to people who had not met him, to give them a 'feel' for what he was like as a person.

The presentation is in four parts. The first part is about George's life: where he came from, how he ended up in San Diego, what he did for a living, things like that.  The second part of the presentation goes over his most "successful" crosses -- in the sense that "successful" means a lot of hybrids were registered from that cross -- and shows some photos of the hybrids from each cross. The crosses shown in depth are the 6 most "successful" ones.   The 3rd part is miscellaneous flowers and newer registrations of his hybrids.  The fourth part is more photos of George with various people.
